Can I use LIGHTSPEED for all my cases? | Q: WHICH OBTURATION TECHNIQUE DO YOU RECOMMEND? |
A: Yes. However, large immature canals cannot be instrumented with LIGHTSPEED because the largest LIGHTSPEED is a size 140. You should use caution with severely curved canals by using a new set of instruments. Also, review the LightSpeed Reference Guide for tips to avoid instrument separation. Wait until you have had more experience using LightSpeed before attempting instrumentation of severely curved canals. | A: SimpliFill. It is a new technique designed specifically for use with LightSpeed. You will be amazed how quickly you can instrument and obturate by using SimpliFill with LightSpeed. However, we know of no obturation technique that is not compatible with LIGHTSPEED. |
Q: Will I need a special handpiece? | Q: Will I lose my "tactile feel" when switching to LIGHTSPEED instrumentation? |
A: No, however we strongly suggest you use our battery driven handpiece which delivers the proper amount of torque, turns 360 degree clockwise rotation, and keeps a constant speed at approximately 2000 rpm. For the new LightSpeed LSX instruments, the ideal speed is 2500 rpm with a range from 2000 to 3000 rpm. Do not use below 2000 rpm. The EndoPAL cordless handpieces are designed specifically for use with LSX instruments. | A: There really is no loss of "tactile feel" -you will learn new ones. The good news is that this new "tactile feel" is more accurate because of LIGHTSPEED's taperless shaft and short cutting blade. Accurate tactile feedback is critical for thorough debridement of the canal. |
